Dar 8 dešimtmetyje rusų žurnalas “Nauka i žizn” (Mokslas ir gyvenimas) paskelbė dingusių be pėdsako žmonių statistiką, tiesa, paremtą užsienio duomenimis. Skaičiai buvo pakankamai gąsdinantys. Tokiose šalyse kaip Anglija, Prancūzija, Italija be pėdsako dingusių žmonių kiekis buvo nuo 5 iki 20 tūkst per metus. Žlugus sovietų santvarkai, panašius duomenys pateikė ir Rusija. Buvusios TSRS teritorijoje dingdavo 85 000 žmonių per metus, o išnykimo priežastis pavykdavo nustatyti tik 60 000 atvejų.
Kartą pas vieną maskvietį atėjo svečių. Pokalbis užsitęsė, baigėsi cigaretės ir šeimininkas, atsiprašęs, užsimetė švarką ir su naminėmis šlepetėmis nusileido į parduotuvę, buvusią to paties namo pirmame aukšte. Tačiau parduotuvėje jis taip ir nepasirodė, namo taip pat nebegrįžo. Jokių dingusio buto šeimininko pėdsakų aptikti nepavyko.
1973 metų vasarą trys Leningrado studentai iškeliavo į Krymą. Traukinyje susipažino su dviem merginomis, važiavusiomis ten pat. Simferopolyje, išlipdami iš traukinio, susitarė, kad susitiks troleibusų stotelėje ir kartu važiuos į Jaltą. Tačiau merginos laukė veltui – vaikinai taip ir nepasirodė. Ir tik grįžusi į Leningradą, viena iš tų merginų iš savo draugės sužinojo, kad jos institute dingo trys studentai, važiavę į Krymą. Požymiai sutapo ir mergina kreipėsi į miliciją. Jaunuolių kompanija buvo įsimenanti – su kaubojiškomis skrybėlėmis, gitaromis, triukšminga. Du vaikinai buvo sportininkai, užsiėmė rytų kovos menais.
Dar vienas atvejis, įvykęs XIX amžiaus Amerikoje, atkreipė Šerloko Holmso kūrėjo Konano Doilio dėmesį. Kažkokia šeima išėjo pasivaikščioti, tačiau šeimos tėvas, prisiminęs, kad pamiršo skėtį, grįžo namo. Daugiau jo niekas niekada nematė.
1936 metais grupė geologų įsikūrė Jelizavetos kaime netoli Krasnojarsko. Po kelių dienų, grįžę namo po eilinio maršruto, geologai pamatė visiškai išmirusį kaimą. Daiktai namuose buvo neliesti. Pagrindinėje kaimo gatvėje gulėjo du dviračiai. Vienas iš geologų, dabar profesorius, geologinių mineraloginių mokslų daktaras Barsukovas iki šiol su virpuliu prisimena tą siaubą, kurį jie p[atyrė, bandydami pranikti į vieną namą, kurio durys buvo užrakintos iš vidaus. Teko iždaužti langą ir tada paaiškėjo, kad durys iš vidaus buvo užbarikaduotos baldais. Name gyveno šeima iš 4 suaugusiųjų ir 3 vaikų. Geologai pranešė apie įvykį vietiniam NKVD skyriui ir iš ten operatyviai atvyko mašina su darbuotojais. Tačiau tyrimas buvo nesėkmingas, o geologai turėjo pasirašyti, kad nepaskelbs apie šį atvejį. Kaip paskui papasakojo barsukovas, po kurio laiko jį iššaukė į Maskvą, į NKVD, kur jis vėl davė parodymus.
1987 metais rusų spaudoje buvo pranešama apie nedidelės ekspedicijos iš Tomsko dingimą. Ji keliavo ieškoti paslaptingos “velnio irštvos” – laukymės, kurioje žūdavo visa kas gyva. Tačiau tikroji dingusios ekspedicijos istorija paaiškėjo visai neseniai.
Grupėje buvo viena mergina. Du vaikinai buvo iš Novosibirsko. Buvo susitarta, kad tame punkte, kur grupė išlips iš traukinio, prie jos prisijungs du vietiniai entuziastai. Visi vaikinai buvo patyrę turistai, ne kartą keliavo po Sibiro taigą, turėjo su savimi šaunamuosius ginklus ir signalizacijos priemones. Tomske jie įlipo į traukinį ir, traukinio darbuotojų liudijimu, visi sėkmingai išlipo iš traukinio numatytoje vietoje. O toliau prasidėjo keistumai. Dviems vietiniams entuziastams, kurie turėjo prisijungti prie ekspedicijos, pasakė, kad traukinys iš Tomsko vėluoja trimis valandomis ir jie, kad perlauktų tą laiką, nuėjo namo. Tačiau mašinistas sumažino vėlavimą iki dviejų valandų ir kai entuziastai vėl atėjo į stotį, traukinys buvo jau išvažiavęs. Atvykėlių iš Tomsko niekas nematė. Stoties budintysis kalbėjo kažką neaiškaus, atseit “Kažkokie vaikinai išlipo iš traukinio”, bet kur jie pasidėjo – neaišku. Į pasiųstą į Tomską telegramą po paros etėjo atsakymas, kad grupė išvažiavo tiksliai nustatytu laiku.
Gaila, bet milicija prisijungė prie paieškos tik po trijų dienų, kai žmonės, kurie galėjo matyti vyrukus, jau išsivažinėjo. Niekas niekur jų daugiau nebematė… Susidarė įspūdis, kad grupė prapuolė vos išlipusi iš traukinio.
1947 metais Uoliniuose kalnuose JAV patyrė avariją keleivinis lėktuvas C 46 su 32 žmonėmis. Gelbėtojai atvyko į avarijos vietą palyginti greitai, tačiau aptiko tik sumaitotą fiuzeliažą ir jokių keleivių bei ekipažo pėdsakų. Štai tada vienam iš gelbėtojų ir gimė beprotiška idėja, kad žmonės išnyko iš lėktuvo ore.
O štai nesenas atvejis su vienu brazilų verslininku. Jo lėktuvas Sesna nukrito į seklius vandenis per šimtą metrų nuo kranto daugelio žmonių akyse. Gelbėtojai sunkiai atlupo dureles, kurios užsikirto smūgio metu, tačiau gelbėti nebuvo ko – kabina buvo tuščia. Policija iškėlė tradicinę versiją: verslininkas, skridęs su žmona pas draugus švęsti, dėl kažkokios priežasties išmetė lauk jauną žmoną ir iššoko pats. Tačiau šią versiją teko atmesti – durelės buvo uždarytos iš vidaus.
Reikia atkreipti dėmesį į faktą, kad reti panašių dingimų faktai, patvirtinti liudininkų, vyksta beveik akimirksniu, be jokių garso ar šviesos efektų. Tačiau ar įmanomi tokie dalykai gamtoje? Pažvelkime į L. Gurevičiaus ir V. Glinerio monografiją “Bendroji tikimybių teorija po Enšteino” (1972). Autoriai tvirtina, kad realybėje egzistuoja neišvengiami ypatingi taškai, kuriuose arba atsiranda, arba dingsta kūnai iš mus supančio pasaulio.
Dingimai būna įvairūs. Atsitikdavo, kad prapuldavo ištisos ekspedicijos. Kai kurios atsirasdavo. Tiksliau – jų liekanos – po pusšimčio, o dažnai ir daugiau metų. Kiti pražuvo amžinybėje.]
